The supplied index reports that apigenin was examined in human epidermal melanocytes, zebrafish embryos, and human skin explants, using melanin measurement, microscopic observation, and inhibition/knockdown of the c-KIT pathway. At 10 µM, melanin production in melanocytes reached 1.8 times the control level; increased pigmentation and reduced UVB-related DNA damage markers were observed in skin explants.
