The supplied index reports that a water-extracted preparation (PURP) containing polysaccharides and proteins was obtained from Prinsepia utilis fruit meal, and tested using SDS-damaged reconstructed human epidermis, mouse skin barrier injury, and IL-4-stimulated cell models. Under the tested conditions, PURP treatment increased transepithelial electrical resistance, reduced permeability, and upregulated Claudin-family expression in reconstructed epidermis, and decreased transepidermal water loss in mice.
PURP contained 35.73% polysaccharides and 11.1% protein (index report).Extract composition (index report)
In reconstructed human epidermis, PURP increased transepithelial electrical resistance, reduced permeability, and upregulated Claudin-3, -4 and -5 expression; in mouse skin, PURP reduced transepidermal water loss.Barrier model results (index report)
