Botanee Group Awarded "CGP Case of the Year 2023" for Full-cycle Green Management

From October 21 to 22, 2023, the China Green Point (CGP) and Future Business Show were held by Yicai in Shanghai. On October 21, under the theme of "Back to the Green", industry leaders, scholars, entrepreneurs and journalists learned about the "CGP Case of the Year 2023" recently released by Yicai and discussed about the current and future sustainability of enterprises.

This year marks the second year of "CGP · Selection of Sustainable Practice Cases" initiated by Yicai. Finally, 25 "CGP Cases of the Year 2023" and 5 "CGP · Green Shell Cases of the Year" were selected. The "CGP Cases of the Year 2023" show the diversity and possibilities of sustainable business from six dimensions: green innovation, green energy conservation, green design, green recycling, green logistics, and green procurement. As the only domestic skincare company shortlisted, Botanee Group was awarded the "CGP Case of the Year 2023" with excellent green supply chain management throughout the product life cycle.

At the roundtable seminar on "How to Arouse the Public's Green Awareness", Zhou Xufeng, Deputy Director of the Yicai Sustainable Business Research Center, had a heated discussion with three other guests. Zhong Wei, Assistant to Chairman and Public Relations Director of Botanee Group, said that the Company will continue to influence the upstream and downstream of the supply chain and the public's awareness by participating in the formulation of group standards for NGOs and industry associations, and increasing communication on the government and media sides.

As a social value-oriented enterprise, Botanee Group has found that more and more consumers pay attention to the environmental friendliness of skincare products and cosmetics in addition to their efficacy. Therefore, it has set up a green supply chain management organization to establish a green supply chain management system that reduces carbon emissions throughout the product life cycle. This system covers business processes such as product R&D, design, procurement, manufacturing, warehousing and logistics. Botanee Group has established two production modes of self-production and outsourcing. Among them, the self-production is conducted in the central factory in Kunming, Yunnan. The new central factory has upgraded the factory design concept and operation process. It is built with low-carbon and environmentally-friendly materials, powered by clean energy such as hydropower and PV power, and operated in accordance with green factory standards and processes.

In terms of product and packaging design, the Company's invention patent "self-closing technology for 100% airtight preservation" enables the product formula to be stored without air contact while reducing plastic consumption. The Company also introduces and applies PCW paper. AOXMED, a high-end anti-aging skincare brand, uses paper containing 40% PCW in its entire production line. In 2022, it consumed 4.8 tons of this recycled paper for the packaging of its products. In addition, 523 products are equipped with electronic instructions, saving about 77.24 million sheets of paper with a weight of about 48 tons.

The raw materials are extremely important for a cosmetics company. In the selection of raw materials for cosmetics, Botanee Group advocates streamlining formulas to reduce the addition of unnecessary chemicals. It adopts cold pressing or subcritical low-temperature extraction for natural plants such as prinsepia utilis royle, avoids the use of organic solvents, and directly purchases and uses palm oil.

It has also expanded the range of raw materials using PCR to achieve sustainable procurement. In 2022, it purchased about 4 tons of PCR raw materials, equivalent to recycling about 230,000 380ml plastic bottles. In terms of warehousing and logistics, it has adopted environmental protection methods such as increasing the size of transportation packaging, improving technology and materials, reducing plastic packaging, and applying eco-friendly ink. In 2022, the Company reduced the use of 98,702 cartons with a weight of about 16 tons.

Outside the company, Botanee Group has joined hands with partners in the industrial chain to "turn green". The Company launched an empty bottle replacement program in 160 chain pharmacies in 2021, with a total of 2,754 empty bottles recovered in 2021 and 183,838 empty bottles recovered in 2022. In 2023, its core brand Winona launched the mini program of "Empty Bottle Recycling, Care for the Earth". By scanning the QR code, consumers can recycle empty bottles to realize closed-loop recycling of packaging, reduce waste pollution, and save resources.

In April this year, Botanee Group released the 2022 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report for the second consecutive year. Compared with the first report, this report increased by 12 pages in length, focusing on "green raw materials", "green packaging", "green warehousing" and "green logistics". It demonstrated that in 2022, Botanee Group continued to improve system management with ESG framework, strengthen the evaluation and inspection of corporate governance, environmental protection and social win-win, promote management innovation, and accelerate high-quality development.

To build "A New World, A Green Future", The Botanee Group will make more plans to achieve its green goals, continue to reduce product carbon footprints, and formulate scientific carbon reduction plans and carbon neutrality roadmaps in line with its actual situation. It will take measures to reduce the carbon footprints of raw materials, formulas, packaging, transportation and use of products, exert positive effects on upstream and downstream ecosystems, and make constant efforts to build a green future of sustainable development!
