Attendees highly affirmed the preparatory work, deliberated and approved the Constitution of Yunnan Health Products and Cosmetics Industry Association, Election Measures, Management Measures for Membership Fees, etc., and elected the first council and supervisory board of the Association. Ma Xiao was elected as the first president.

President Ma Xiao said in his speech that the biomedical industry is an emerging industry of strategic importance that matters to national economy, people's livelihood and national security. It is an important field of technological and industrial competition among great powers. The CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Yunnan Province prioritize the development of biomedical industry, build it into a RMB-100-billion-level emerging industry of strategic importance, and lead the high-quality and leapfrog development of biomedical industry and massive health industry. The establishment of the Association coincides with the timing and trend. The Association will play its role in five aspects. First, it will play the role of adviser and assistant as a "researcher" for industrial policies. Second, it will play the role of bridge and link as a "liaison" for government-enterprise communication. Third, it will play the role of unity and service as a "servant" for members. Fourth, it will play the role of leadership and innovation as a "guide" for industrial development. Fifth, it will play the role of coordination and supervision as a "supervisor" for industry self-discipline.

Dr. Yan Jiangying, CAFFCI President, expressed her expectations for the Association. She said that Yunnan is one of the three most suitable areas for flower production in the world. Yunnan is also rich in aromatic plant resources. Nearly 400 kinds of natural aromatic crops have been discovered and introduced, making it one of the representative regions for fragrance trade in the world. The Association should dig into the characteristics and utilization of local ornamental plants, advantages and values of local aromatic plant resources and other researches, focus on the R&D of aromatic plant-related industries, and explore the beauty of biodiversity in Yunnan. She hoped that the Association would serve as a guide for the high-quality development of fragrance, flavor and cosmetic industries, promote the innovative development of relevant raw materials, and put people first to make these industries develop steadily and sustainably. The establishment of the Association marks a new beginning for the development, self-discipline and standardization of Yunnan's massive health industry. The Association provides a communication platform between the government and massive health enterprises, and propels the development of Yunnan's massive health industry.
The Association is an industrial and non-profit social organization approved by the Department of Civil Affairs of Yunnan Province. It was initiated by 14 enterprises, including Yunnan Baiyao Group Co., Ltd., Yunnan Botanee Bio-Technology Group Co., Ltd., KPC Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Yixintang Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd., Walvax Biotechnology Co., Ltd., and Yunnan Phytopharmaceutical Co., Ltd.
